Céline, the saga of the brand

Celine Vipiana is a French woman born in 1920. After the Second World War, in 1945, she founded with her husband, Robert Vipiana, the brand Celine. Originally, the house is named Celine, the children's boot, specialized in tailor-made shoes for the little ones. Celine Vipiana wants a dandy style and trendy for the fashionable cabbage tips. The first shop is open at 52 rue de Malte, followed by a second one, in 1948, at 237 rue du Faubourg Saint Honore in Paris.

As early as 1960, the brand Celine diversifies and launches a line of women's leather goods. With great success, in 1964, Celine creates his first perfume Crazy Wind. Celine continues its development and launches a line of jewels, hats, gloves and other fashion accessories. Women are charmed by trendy bags and good quality. The model Pony, elegant and modern, is worn by all the city's citizens. Lovers of horses, Celine Vipiana and her husband choose the emblem of the house, the American sulky (a two-wheeled, one-seat, American-style horse-drawn car), in 1966 in reference to this love for horses. Celine Vipiana does not stop there, and in 1967, she launched her first ready-to-wear collection, and it's a success. In 1973, Celine Vipiana stops in front of the Arc de Triomphe and realizes that chain links surround the historic monument. This gives him an idea for the symbol of his brand that becomes two "C". The House Celine continues its rise by exporting internationally (Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Korea ...).

In 1996, Celine is bought out by LVMH. Michael Kors becomes the artistic director gives a new breath to a house in decline. In 2004, Roberto Menichetti succeeded him for two years, replaced in 2006 by Ivana Omazic who took over the artistic direction and chose to plunge back into the style of Celine Vipiana. Since 2008, Phoebe Philo has been the Artistic Director of the brand and has been printing her brand at home, praised by fashion editors around the world for her smart minimalism. Among the celebrities loyal to Celine, we find  Blake Lively, Jennifer Aniston or Gwyneth Paltrow
