GirlsFromMainStreet pays tribute to Philippe Noiret

Noiret is above all for me a voice, this voice so special, so serious, that we hear at the beginning of the cinéscénie du Puy du Fou. A voice that resonates in the dark and inevitably gives you goose bumps. But Noiret is also a long list of films more beautiful and more moving than the others. Starting with this unforgettable "Old Rifle" where he loves and revenge Romy Schneider, but also "Alexander the Blessed" with this famous scene of the meal in the bed. More recently, I loved Noiret in Michel Boujenah's "Père et fils". A great gentleman who knew how to bring elegance and distinction to this world of cinema that does not always have one.

My first cinematographic emotions date from the "Old rifle" ... and Philippe Noiret was one of those characters I thought immortal.

Every evening, at the beginning of the 20 hours, it's time to hug with my son. Yesterday, when I heard the announcement of the death of Philippe NoiretMaybe it's stupid, but I did not want to believe it. Why, I do not know ... probably because this man had a charisma, a voice and a presence, and especially was a very great actor. So discreet and so courageous, he continued his tour despite this disease that gnawed him every day more. Philippe Noiret will remain for me a talented actor.

Philippe Noiretwith his air of an old gentleman with a deep voice and a good-looking manner, reminded me a little of my grandfather. And some of his roles too, always touching. Upset by the "Old rifle", which I had seen at the cinéclub in terminal, I cried seeing it in the middle of the flames in "Cinema Paradiso". And I think that, above all, I loved the "Mauve Taxi". Because the film was set in Ireland and the characters, Noiret in the lead, were touchingly simple.

It was when I saw him in "Cinema Paradiso" 16 years ago that I completely fell in love. A monster of gentleness and tenderness, giving in this film the replica of a little "Toto" who learns a lot about him, and his love of cinema. Philippe Noiret was for me one of the great French actors, with Depardieu, Serrault or Rochefort. He remained active until the end, because he had to be as passionate about life as about his career. A career besides led without the shadow of a failure.

At 76, Philippe Noiret we leave ... A man so talented who, after his debut at the theater, which I confess I did not really know, went on the big screen. Among his films known to all, such as "The Big Food" or "The old rifle", here is the one I remember most: "Les Ripoux"! A masterpiece that forces us to say that he was a great comedian, a very popular actor and, I think, very much appreciated with his unique and charming voice. Philippe Noiret, your death leaves a great void ...

My best memory of Philippe Noiret remains his role in "Cinema Paradisio". At the time my parents took me to see him at the movies, I was just ten years old ... about the same age as Toto, the main character of this story. I had no trouble identifying myself with this kid, taken under his wing by a passionate projectionist, Alfredo, who made him discover the art of dreaming through images. Through the disappearance of Philippe Noiretit's this Alfredo, who has been my greatest friend for the duration of the film, who has just left me again. So tonight I'm going to lock myself up in a dark room, in front of any movie, and I'll imagine myself with him in the projection booth. As if I was still ten years old.
