Emily + Taylor

A sentimental farm wedding in beautiful Madison, VA

Emily and Taylor met each other in high school they had Spanish class together junior year and became best friends. They have been together ever since. Emily has always envisioned marrying Taylor. Once she went off to college it became clear to her that there was no one else who she wanted to spend forever with.

These two love birds got engaged on a Sunday morning while vacationing at the Outer Banks. They had just celebrated their six year anniversary together and were heading home when Taylor asked Emily to join him on the beach for a walk. While walking on the beach Taylor popped the question to Emily. And luckily enough the bride’s friend was able to photograph the whole proposal (good job planning that, Taylor!)

With May 16 being such an important date to the couple, they just knew that was going to be there wedding day! Taylor’s grandparents own a beautiful farm in Madison County, where many of Taylor’s family members have been married. Taylor and Emily value the importance of family so much, it was not hard for them to decide to get married there, plus they have an unbeatable view of Old Rag Mountain.

Emily and Taylor wanted to add rustic touches to their wedding without being TOO rustic. Their colors were gray, pink, gold, & navy. Emily worked hard to add many personal touches to her wedding from finding props on the farm, making table decorations, to gifts for the guest. They both were excited to incorporate the history of the farm with the guests at the wedding.

I asked Emily and Taylor why is marriage so important to them, this is what they had to say:

This is a hard question to answer, because it just is. But plain and simple, we believe that God created marriage for two people, for forever. We believe in working hard to stay together and working hard for future generations. To show others that two people, united in marriage really can stay together until death separates them. It’s important to us because we are making the commitment in front of our family and friends, to God and to each other to stay together forever and we are going to actually keep that commitment.
