Adolescents: seven hours of sleep are enough!

Lifestyle and sleep among adolescents

School rhythm, hobbies, hormonal changes: at night, teenagers do not want to go to bed early! Does this mean a lack of sleep hours? It depends. Teenagers, who go to bed late and get up easily in the morning, simply need little sleep. Moreover, and unlike adults, the signs of sleep deprivation in adolescents appear very quickly. They doze in the day. And this drowsiness is detrimental to their studies and their health. Lack of sleep is one of the first causes of traffic accidents. Vigilance is particularly important for teenagers driving a two-wheeler.

Teenage sleep: distinguish quality and quantity

According to scientists, the optimal duration of sleep is 7 hours. For teenagers as for their parents. Some studies even claim that those who sleep less than 4 hours and more than 8 hours a night have higher mortality. Beyond these expertises, the important thing is to understand that there is no ideal duration but doors of sleep not to be missed. To recover at best, you have to sleep between 11 pm and 6 am. But adolescents often exceed this bedtime. And fat morning does not change anything, because sleeping between 9 am and 1 pm does not offer the same qualities of recovery.

The bet of a "responsible" sleep for teenagers

Finally, the main thing is that teens feel good ... in the day. It is the pledge that they slept well! Teenagers who wake up without difficulty and remain attentive in class have found their rhythm. No matter how many hours of sleep! It is a matter of balance, regularity, a harmony to be found between the "little" and the "too much". The difficulty lies precisely here. Teens like to test their limits. And those of their parents. The ideal is therefore to find the real reason that will make them responsible for sleep ...
