Brand Saga: The Story of Marchesa

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are two Londoners who meet during their studies at the College of Art and Design in London. Having the same desires and the same tastes, they decide to associate and create their brand Marchesa in 2004. The name of the brand is chosen in reference to the Marquise Luisa Casati known for being eccentric and theatrical and fond of beautiful things.
Georgina Chapman started as a costume designer, while Keren Craig specializes in prints and embroidery. His specialty is stage costumes dotted with embroidery. In their evening dresses, we feel this influence: the evening dresses are often very dressy with Asian or oriental influences with delicate fabrics. The Fall / Winter 2010 collection is a great success. She is inspired by a dancer, Lola Montez. This whimsical haute couture line comes straight out of a fairy tale with feathers adorned with lace with pearls and draped tulle.
In 2011, Marchesa launches its spring / summer accessory line with pockets that complement the evening dresses.

 Marchesa on the red carpet
Like Elie Saab, Marchesa has quickly established itself as the stitching star star for Hollywood red carpet. Penelope Cruz, at 64th Cannes Festival is the queen of sensual dresses. She opts for the occasion a lilac colored outfit, Marchesa. The garment plays on a game of transparency very successful. We also note Rachel McAdams which is a sensation in his red dress signed Marchesa. The model also plays on the transparency that suggests the lines of the body and gives a queen side of the ball with the long tail.
