Feet have their day: take care of it!

Here is a good opportunity to take care of yourself, and take charge! Wednesday, May 13 is the 7th National Day of Foot Health, organized by the French Union for Foot Health (UFSP).

This day has a major advantage: 200 participating public sites propose to consult free sizes of podiatry, the study of the foot, for all those who will present.

Knowing that we do 5,000 to 6,000 steps a day, and that we go around the Earth twice in our lives, feet are precious! To not be part of the 20% of French who suffer from foot pain, here are some tips to take care of our feet.

Have good hygiene
As you can imagine, our feet need above all impeccable hygiene to be in good health. In the morning shower, it is of course necessary to wash them thoroughly every day, then to dry them well, insisting between the toes. If the feet are poorly dried, it can cause some problems, such as plantar warts. To avoid: baths that last too long, it can weaken them.

Getting well
The feet are most often enclosed in shoes, but they are very sensitive: they are composed of 28 bones, more than 30 joints and many nerves and ligaments. The UFSP advises, especially in children, to wear strong shoes, which maintain the foot well, while respecting his anatomy, especially at the back of the foot.
It is important to pay attention to any internal stitching or over-stitching that is too rigid or too raised that can cause injury or discomfort in the long term. To avoid: plastic shoes, which can cause perspiration and warts.
Also, lovers of high heels must know that they are responsible for heel calluses, because they change the distribution of the weight of the body on the foot.

Consult in case of pain
Foot Health Day is used to inform the French about pain to the feet and to give them the reflex to consult a chiropodist as soon as they have foot pain, be it corns, plantar warts or ingrown toenails.
If a person leaves behind this kind of problem, this one can suffer from severe complications: the UFSP recommends to everyone to consult an expert on average once a year, especially diabetics, elderly, suffering from venous problems, osteoarthritis, but also athletes and children.

Exfoliate and moisturize
There is no secret to having pretty feet: they must be nourished with ultra-moisturizing care. But before that, it is best to exfoliate them, using a good scrub for the body. For a good scrub, moisten your feet first, then rub in circular gestures emphasizing the calluses, the dead, favoring the heels. Then, once the feet are well dried, apply a moisturizer. There is even specific care for this fragile area.

To massage
Feel free to massage your feet, it's not luxury seen as they are abused every day! If you have a few minutes, a little massage morning and evening is ideal to relieve and sublimate your feet. You can even enjoy the exfoliation and the moisturizer to gently massage you: nothing better to feel light and relaxed, you'll see it's the foot!
