Godfather, godmother, their true role!
To the birth of a child, many parents must choose who will take on the role of godfather and godmother. For the first child the choice is simpler because it is customary to ask the brothers and sisters of the parents of the child. Céline Da Rocha, mother of three children is very attached to this tradition: "From the second child the situation became complicated. The godfather and godmother must represent our two cultures. " The most important thing is to entrust this role to people who look like parents, with the same values and the same principles ofeducation.
It's used for ?
They will raise the child if something happens to the parents. For Céline, the importance of these people is elsewhere"They are privileged people who bring a plus to the child, represents him in his culture and his values.For my daughter, we asked my brother-in-law and a friend of mine". Trust is paramount in this choice, the chosen person must be someone to whom the child can be trusted without fear.
What place do you give them?
They have the role they want to give themselves. While some people do not take this situation to heart, others feel invested with a mission. These people have a special place in the hearts of children. "My children have to share their parents while for the godparents there is a strong sense of belonging. They say all the time, it's MY godfather and I feel that it has a real importance for them " explains Céline. Children can easily turn to them when they need advice.
It belongs to each family to integrate the godfather and the godmother in the events which concern the child. Céline found her method: "It is a special relationship that needs to be maintained. The godfather and godmother are invited to all birthdays. On religious holidays, they accompany children immensely. For their part, children send a small card for Christmas, birthdays and any other opportunities that arise.
