Heal a stye

A stye appears when the hair follicle at the base of an eyelash is infected. In general, it takes the form of a size, accompanied by inflammation. Highly contagious, it requires very strict hygiene rules.

Do not touch directly a sty and especially do not squeeze it, you risk spreading inflammation to the entire eyelid, even to the other?
For the same reason, do not wear makeup until your eye is healed and opt for dark glasses. If you have makeup products started, it is better to get rid of them because they are probably already carriers of germs.

Apply on the stye a hot sterile compress, soaked in boiled water. Practice this treatment three times a day, it will promote the elimination of pus.
You can also make eye baths with cornflower water, very effective in reducing inflammation.

As soon as the size becomes white, or that pus outcrops, remove the offending eyelash with tweezers, previously disinfected under the flame or in boiling water. Then clean your eyelid with a sterile pad.
You can then clean your eye with antiseptic eye drops bought in pharmacies.

A golden rule to observe: After taking care of your eye, wash your hands with soap and water and wipe them off with a sheet of paper towel that you will discard immediately. Do not share a glove or towel, to avoid contamination of your loved ones. You will find on the market antiseptic hand wash gels.

If you wear lensesDisinfect and do not put them until your eyelid is healed.

Our advice
Do not confuse stye and chalazion. If, despite the treatment, the size shows no sign of evolution, it is not a stye. In this case, consult your doctor because it is a non-serious cyst, which will however require a small surgery to remove it.
