Irouléguy, South-West red wine

Wine region: South-West
Registered designation of origin: Irouléguy
In this region of the Atlantic Pyrenees, autumn is soft and dry. It compensates the rest of the year, whose climate is globally difficult. The grapes used for the white are the small and the big Manseng, and the Courbu. Those for red are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat (this must not exceed half of the blend).

We recommend the Cuvée Haïtza, Domaine Arretxea, produced by Michel Riouspeyrous, in Irouléguy:
Her red dress is almost black. Its nose, nicely fruity and spicy, has a slightly burned note. Its mouth is vivacious, rich in acidity, its fruits are present (notes of cherries). Its tannins are very slightly bitter, but coat the palate well, in a dense and fleshy way.
Vintage to privilege: 2000. Young but pleasant, he deserves another one or two years of cellar to refine.
Indicated price : 23? about.
The good agreement: The rather fatty dishes (chest, ears and feet of pork, sausages, andouillettes). Sheep cheese. Gratin dauphinois.
