A timed mystery box
To avoid the "pressure test", amateur cooks from Masterchef had carte blanche: make the dish or dishes of their choice. "It's a sort of synthesis test," Pierre sums it up quite nicely. The jury examines whether the students have assimilated the lessons and advice received throughout these weeks. They want to see a technical, creative attitude with character.
But this zero-stress test proves to be difficult for the candidates who let themselves go beyond and scatter. The ambient bazaar brings out the hinges of the jury that pushes a joke history to put a little order in the workshop.
To impress Frédéric Anton, Yves Camdeborde and Sébastien Demorand, some candidates like Pierre and Simon, have seen big: it must be said that make an entrée, a dish and a dessert in 1:30 is not won when you cook gourmet. Others like Hasnaa or Annelyse produced a light work, even limit according to the jury. The jurors are mixed. Olivier (who was highly anticipated because of his behavior last week) and Pascal outdid themselves, but the training did not follow. Pity. The blow of heart escapes them to be attributed to Simon, under the mocking eyes of Ludovic. Cedric, recover the dark apron with a training described as "shameful" by the leaders.
A full-scale recognition test
What is this animal ? What is his AOC? Here are the types of questions that candidates Masterchef have had to answer to have a chance to stay in competition. Ludovic starts, determined not to repeat past mistakes. Lack of luck, he confuses the hare and rabbit at the outset. Difficult to dodge the test under pressure without a good answer. To decide between these three candidates, the jury organizes a new test: to assemble and shape a maximum of sausages in 5 minutes. None of them knew the technique, yet Christelle gave the impression of having done this all her life. Ludovic is less clever than she is but more efficient than Pascal who joins Cédric under pressure test.
Under pressure
This time Pascal and Cédric have 1 hour to make a dessert from the ingredients of tomato mozzarella salad and confectionery of their choice. Cedric is thrilled, pastry is his thing. The two friends outdo each other to avoid the elimination and, against all odds, it is Pascal who seduces the jury by the balance of its flavors and the elegance of its round of desserts.
Blue against red
Because he has been keen 2 times in a row this week, Simon becomes team leader and chooses Olivier to be the team's opponent. Teams made, all fly to Merzouga to taste the famous Moroccan chef Choumicha accompanied by two consummers and 6 local producers, a tagine and couscous revisited.
Returning to the land of its origins makes a good fortune to Hasnaa which is revealed more. She knows all the products and knows how to cook them. It is an asset for the reds and Simon lets it take things in hand. On the side of the blues, we want to surprise! No semolina in the couscous, it will be grated cauliflower.
The heat, the sun, the sand ... The working conditions are extreme. The reds keep the pace while the blues are hard to follow, perhaps by the fault of Olivier who, since the beginning of the test, seems elsewhere and does not hold his position.
In spite of all the contract is filled, the plates are ready and the positive returns. But the blues pay their originality! The idea was good, the recipe interesting but off topic according to the Moroccan experts who give the victory almost unanimously to the reds. Union of two gastronomies
Candidates in danger must reproduce a recipe devised by the demanding chef Meriem Merchaoui. His cuisine, a link between French and Moroccan cuisine, enchants Ludovic while she terrorizes Christelle, Tamara, Julie and Olivier. These last ones multiply the misfires.
At the end of the test the jury is disappointed, the plates of the candidates are not completed. The girls gave them an almost half-raw sole. And despite a beautiful presentation, Christelle is on the hot seat alongside Tamara.It has not played much but it is the latter who leaves the adventure with the firm intention to start a new career dedicated to cooking.
