Heroes
Ludmilla: Beautiful, coarse but smart-speaking peasant woman, she lives in Oublil, a fictitious region of the former USSR. His daily lot: violence, hunger and an impending war.
Gordon and Blair: Born Siamese in Britain, then cloistered in a specialized institute, they were separated at the age of 33 years. Their immersion in the real world will be difficult.

The plot
One goal for each of these characters: to survive. Without resources for the young Russian, without landmarks for the two Englishmen. The sequence of the scenario implies very quickly that they will meet ... remains to know how.

The decor
DBC Pierre exaggerates, with humor. When he describes Russia, it makes it an arid land where everyone suffers. And when he portrays England, she becomes ultra-liberal, without respect or restraint, with excessive privatizations.

The style
Lively and light, he relies heavily on the flowery expressions of the characters, such as, "Do you take me for a goose of what color?" for "Stop lying to me", or "Keep your gas" for "Shut up".

Three adjectives to describe this book
Hilarious, whimsical, unbridled

Why you will like
For the atypism, the hardness and the madness of the characters, which make them in turn endearing or unbearable.

The author
Peter Finley calls himself DBC for Dirty But Clean (Crado but Clean). Born in Australia 45 years ago, he grew up in Mexico, before finding refuge in Ireland. He won the prestigious Booker Price three years ago for his first novel "The goat hemisphere".
