Napping improves cognitive abilities in children

An American study of the National Academy of Sciences, published in September 2013, has just proved that children who make a nap after lunch have better memory and learning abilities than those who do not sleep.

Researchers at Amherst University, Massachusetts, observed and analyzed the performance of 40 children nursery school, aged 3 to 5, while engaged in educational activities. They formed two groups ofchildren : one had made a nap and the other no.

Napping is fundamental for children

However, it turned out that children who had slept an hour after lunch, were much better at waking up in the afternoon while those who had not nap have encountered difficulties in doing the same activities. The numbers prove it because the success rate of children who had slept was 75%, while that of children who had not slept was only 65%.

The scientists therefore concluded that the nap was truly fundamental to young people children to develop their cognitive abilities. Find all the results of this American study by clicking here !
