Portrait of Anna Sam, talented blogger

Over-Blog / "cashier no future": we can say that it is a name that engages many questions. Tell us a little about yourself:

Small presentation then: 28 years old, married and cashier in a supermarket because you have to work well. As for studies, I have a bac + 5 in literature. I already feel the questions, but what do I do in a supermarket with diplomas like that? In fact, my career is rather classic: I started with a small part-time job in a supermarket when I started my university studies. At the end of my studies, I kept my job and did various internships (in the middle of the book: bookstore and publishing house) which unfortunately did not result in a job. The more time has passed and the more I have increased my hours of work as a cashier. However, I have never stopped my search for work, but it is true that after a while, we are also worn by his habits and time passes quickly.

And then, at the end of the day, I became an expert in cash (do not be afraid of words ... that said, in 2-3 months we are already an expert ... so, maybe I became a master-jedi of cash?) and when one does not pay more attention to the work in oneself, one observes more what is happening around us. I then realized that the society that runs through our eyes all day long is a very surprising sight. It was well worth it to talk about it.
And even if cashier, this is not a dream job, even if the pay is not heavy at the end of the month (part time requires), even if we are not well recognized by people ( that it is customer or boss) well, it's a job like any other and we laugh well anyway ...

So the "cashier no future", somewhere, is a bit my mind on my current work. I do not see my future and in general, it should not be deceived, in a few years, the cashier will almost no longer exist, replaced by much more productive systems and will cost less to the business.
The future is elsewhere (not the truth huh!) ...

OB / Why make a blog?

Since the time I talk about the stories that are happening at my job, I have often been told that it would be worth it to make a book. It must be said that level anecdotes, each day of cash brings a lot of novelties, the next day is almost always a new adventure.
And rather than letting my quaint cashier tribulations hang around in a corner of my head, the blog turned out to be a great alternative. I created it on a whim a little more than 6 months ago and while at the beginning I wondered if knowing the mirror of big surfaces would interest a minimum people, I was suprise and impressed to see how curious customers are about what's happening on the other side of the box.

And then, from the creation of my blog, I took a guideline that I want to show my job positively. I can not bring myself to make fun of people for nothing. I find that it is useless in the end and especially it would serve the profession.
I wanted to rehabilitate the cashier and I have more than exceeded my goal. Today, when people leave a comment or send me an email saying "I will not see the cashier as before", so I won everything and a touch of pride awakens in me.

OB / It's a bit of the fight against the misconceptions about the cashiers finally?

Absolutely, my first desire was to convey the idea that we are not transparent. And the more time passes and the more I feel like I'm the spokesperson for the cashiers. It's very gratifying: there are 170,000 cashiers in France and to be the showcase of my job, it's quite exciting. That's also why on my blogI do not denigrate my colleagues or customers free of charge. Otherwise my desire to return to the cashier his status as human would be useless ...

OB / What do your colleagues and your family think about this blog and highlighting your work?

Family side, it's my fans from the first hour ...They are still waiting for my articles and they are always full of new stories. Like this, I realize if my "adventures" are relatable and if they will be likely to please when published on the blog. That said, there are exceptions and they are also discovering some articles on the blog : stories that I kept in reserve so that they have the surprise ... :)

Side colleagues, I will split into two types:
- my colleagues from the store where I work> I spoke very little about me. Since I do not really want my blog know myself within my company, I only have 3-4 colleagues who are aware. That said, they tell me that they find themselves when I tell, it's okay ... it's that I do not say nonsense.
- my colleagues "virtual"> because there are also many testimonials from hosts and cashiers from all over France and Belgium (mainly). If you read a few comments, you will quickly realize that many readers are also cashiers and they too are in what I say. The job is the same everywhere and the behavior of the company is identical too (in the French-speaking European countries say, elsewhere, there are still great differences).

In any case, one thing is certain is that the highlight of my job is received positively. I have never had a negative feedback. And that's great and it feels good!

OB / And your employers?

Euuuuh, joker!
In fact, my bosses are absolutely unaware. This blog is written anonymously (we do not know who I am, where I live or where I work) because I confess I do not know how my boss would react if he learned about my blog. At the same time, it may be ridiculous on my part because I always (except once it's true) write my anecdotes in a positive way because my goal is to revalue the cashier in the eyes of people.
The day I leave my current job, I will post the link of my blog big in the break room! :)

OB / You say that the trade of "cashier" is not necessarily the job of end of course, but it abounds with graduates (e) s. You, too, it seems to me. Why stay?

Ha, the angry question ... I feel like I hear my mom!
Why ? The strength of the habit? The famous CDI that we have more and more difficulties to find? The atmosphere with colleagues?
And then, despite all that one can think about this ungrateful job, there are some good sides. I like contact with people, even if it's fleeting. Cashier, this is still one of the few trades where one can meet so many people. And some meetings are worth living.

In a more down-to-earth way, I stayed because I have not, for the moment, found work in my industry. The cultural sector is pretty clogged and the contest to become a teacher of schools is not so easy ... So while waiting better, I stay.

OB / Your anecdotes are sometimes hilarious and your visitors appreciate the tone you give to your articles. You have a method to write them or it's the feeling?

Since I started my blog, I do not part more of a small notebook where I often note on the spot, in cash, a few words about a meeting or an exceptional situation. Some stories are forgotten too fast otherwise ...

I can not say that I really have a method to write my articles. In general, I am just looking for the theme for the next article that I put as an appeal at the end of the published article. Like that, I also give myself an optics and a guideline for my next story and it allows me to think about it a few days before writing.

On the other hand, the articles published in the category "notions of the trade" are considered well in advance. For those, I try to be as accurate as possible.

OB / You were on another blogging platform until recently. Why did you try the adventure with us?

Because it was kindly proposed to me.

Let's also say that my old platform was very good to start (this is my first blog !) but I quickly felt a little cramped in terms of customizing the site. But as I already had a lot of articles and a good SEO I could not see everything again elsewhere. So, this proposal to come on overblog has been a real boon to me: the transfer of all articles and comments definitely won me over.
And then, the copyright pay system is the icing on the cake. I will not become a millionaire but I will give myself some books at the end of the year ...

OB / What can we wish you for the success of your blog ... A book? A TV show?

Yes! A TV show? And my anonymity then?
Being a literary in the soul, I admit nevertheless that the perspective of the book attracts me much more and that somewhere, it would be a beautiful result for a cashier of province ...
