Sun, watch your skin

In view of the results of a survey conducted by Nivea Sun and the association Solar Safety * on the behavior of the French and the Sunit is not vain to recall the good attitude to adopt during a solar exhibition.
Indeed, if this study shows that the French are very well aware of the risks associated with exposure to Sun, from there to implement the recommendations of the professionals, it is another thing! They tend to say the opposite of what they do. The following figures prove it:
- 30% of respondents say they wear a hat most often under the Sunonly 5% of the French observed wore one on the photos taken during the survey, regardless of the time of day.
- 20 to 54% say they stay in the shade on the beach and, again, after observation the investigators note that it is actually a very small percentage of individuals, 8 to 10%, who really protect themselves.

So how do you protect yourself effectively?
- choose a sun protection adapted to your color of skinthe more it is clear, the more it is sensitive to UV and therefore the higher the protection index must be. Remember to apply it a good half hour before the exposure. And do not forget, a gradual and safe exposure will make you a tan more beautiful, which will last longer.
- Regularly renew the application (at least every two hours), especially if you bathe often.
- avoid the hours when the UV is the most harmful (12 pm - 16 pm).
- for children redouble precautions, total screen (maximum protection), t-shirt, hat and attention to reverb, even under a parasol.
- do not forget the glasses of Sununder the pretext of not wanting brands. Your eyes are as vulnerable as your skin.

Let's not forget the good sides of the sun
- it stimulates the synthesis of vitamin D by the skin, essential for the absorption of calcium.
- it helps the children to build a good bone capital; to treat certain diseases of skinsuch as psoriasis or atopic eczema; to fight against osteoporosis.
- It's great for morale, it's a natural anti-depressant.

* Survey carried out during summer 2006 on ten French beaches. The methodology was based on questions asked to 170 people and on a photographic analysis of nearly 49,000 attitudes (photos taken between 10:30 and 18:30 for 15 days).
