The brand saga: Pantene

Laboratoires Hoffmann-La Roche, named after their founder, were created in Switzerland on October 1, 1896 by Fritz Hoffmann-La Roche to develop pharmaceutical products.
In 1945, Dr. Gustav Erlemann, researcher specializing in vitamins, creates for laboratories, B- Pantene, based on panthenol. This lotion treats skin problems, burns and hair loss. In view of the success of the product, Dr. Erlemann is entrusted by Hoffmann-Laroche with product development Pantene, for hair salons and department stores.

He develops, in 1947, Pantene Hairtonic, to eliminate hair dandruff. In the same year, the company of the same name, which will produce successively in the 50's, a range of care and maintenance of the hair with the pro-vitamin B5 complex, in the 60's, is born. Pantene"which allows to fix and discipline the hair, then a coloring for gray hair.

In 1970, Pantene always at the forefront of innovation, creates the first after-shampoos intended to facilitate the blow-dry and to give volume to the hair. The products Essentially present in Europe, Pantene was sold in 1983 to Richardson-Vicks, which expanded the product line and intensified its distribution in the United States and Canada.

In 1986, Richardson-Vicks was absorbed by Procter and Gamble, which boosted the development of the brand. In 1989, the first "2 in 1" shampoos were launched, then in 1997, thanks to the development of theElastesse, a patented fixing agent, which fixes the hair in a flexible and invisible way, Pantene commercializes a new range of sprays.
1999 sees the placing on the market of the first set of care dedicated to colored hair, Pantene Pro-V Color.

In 2001, Pantene launches 5 new product lines that replace all existing ranges: Genuine Volume, Smooth and Silky, Perfect Earrings, Radiant Color, Classic. Then will be followed by a range of repairing and protective treatments, the first line of products designed for the hair of women of color, the first line for hair of Hispanic women ...

In 2007, the image of Pantene is completely revamped, with new packaging, new formulas, ranges of products adapted to all types of hair, but also to the style and personality of each consumer.

Today, Pantene sells 3000 products every minute in the world and ranges Pantene Pro-V (pro-vitamin A) are still the best selling hair products.
60 years after its creation, Pantene, No. 1 worldwide shampoos and conditioners, continues to innovate in the service of women's hair. Its common thread: Panthenol, or pro-Vitamin B5, flagship asset of its formulas incessantly reworked and improved over the years.
