Some consider Hector as the true hero of "The Iliad" of Homer. Son of King Priam, brother of Paris and husband of Andromache, it was he who became general-in-chief of the Trojans, resisted more than ten years to the Greek attacks against the city of Troy. Mythology thus reports the exploits ofHector face to Achilles, whom he killed the companion Patroclus and the brother Polydore. But the fighting initiated by the goddess Athena, who had taken on the traits of her favorite brother, ultimately cost the lives of Hectorwho died under the sword of Achilles.
Hector, a rare name
It is perhaps this tragic end image that made the name Hector has never been very widespread. In a century, only 4103 people took it to France. However, it is experiencing a revival since the 1990s and especially 2000. A relatively relative increase since only about 200 newborns are so named each year. Hector therefore remains first name uncommon.
