Origin
Famous Athenian courtesan of the 4th century BC, Thais was for a long time the mistress of Alexander the Great. After the death of the latter, she set her sights on Ptolemy (first Egyptian king of this dynasty) she married. Thereafter, we find St. Thaïs who converted to Christianity and ended his days as a nun. His story was narrated by the famous Anatole France and taken up by Jules Massenet in the well-known Thai Meditation. Over the centuries, the first name Thais spread in English-speaking countries. In France it was only in the 1990s that it began to be attributed but became popular in 2010. Today it is in the top 200 national and it should be awarded to 800 babies in 2013.
