History of Sainte Perrine

Sainte Perrine was a young Roman girl from the powerful Flavian family. Living in the first century, she was converted to Christianity by the Apostle Peter before becoming a martyr. The inscriptions found on his tomb in the seventh century suggest that Sainte Perrine was the daughter of Saint-Pierre.


Perrine, a modern name

The first name Perrine appeared in France in the early nineteenth century. Its popularity has long been hindered by the impact of a song whose lyrics told the story of a maid named Perrine. It was not until the mid-1970s that parents again considered choosing a first name as Perrine. As early as the year 1980, the first name Perrine has thus gained popularity which has remained stable for nearly twenty years, with each year between 550 and 850 newborns wearing this first name.
