"The Office" on DVD
Adapted from the British series of the same name, "The Office" portrays the day-to-day work of a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
The story is mainly based on a gallery of caricatures, but endearing.
The manager, Michael Scott (played by Steve Carell) thinks he's the ideal boss, both cool and funny, while he's stubborn, annoying and jokes of dubious taste. !
He is surrounded by deliciously stereotypical employees: Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), the thirty-year-old sympathetic careless of his career, Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), his ambitious colleague to whom he likes to make jokes and who is not very appreciated by other employees. Other characters include Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), the new receptionist and Ryan Howard (BJ Novak), the smart young employee, who remains outside the true politics of the office despite Michael's attempts to instill the official point of view.
The success of the series is based on a totally realistic vision of the world of work (the series is turned like a documentary), but which plays on an offbeat humor and a comic situation that makes all its effect!
Served by brilliant actors and excellent dialogues of subtlety, situations are always funny and sometimes even totally delusional.
After a difficult beginning, the series slowly gained the enthusiasm of the American public and then European, especially thanks to the success in the cinema of 40 years old, always virgin, who helped make Steve Carell a star before the start of the second season
"The Office" was recently renewed for a fourth season of 30 episodes.
If you missed this series becoming cult, Universal just released a box DVD first 2 seasons, 21 episodes. A good idea for gifts for the "serial"!
