View: Operation "Glasses for Sand Children"

It is therefore on the occasion of the Rally of Tunisia that the volunteers of the "Des glasses for Children of Sands ", created by Optic 2000 and Essilor, identify and equip glasses small Tunisians living in remote villages with no access to health care.
Prior to the car race, the head of the operation at Essilor meets the Tunisian authorities who will select children, aged 6 to 10 years, who have a vision problem (visual acuity less than 8/10). At the discretion of the bivouacs of the Rally, the 8 volunteers and the ophthalmologist will install the two motorhomes arranged specially and receive the children.

About 50 children, somewhat intimidated, are received at each stage. They are then supported by the professional team assisted by a translator. On the spot each one is tracked, chosen a pretty mount (provided gracefully by the company ADCL) and then receives his visual equipment adapted to his problem of sight. Everything is made on site in the heat, the sand and always the good mood.

For some, as for a beautiful little girl with lagoon-colored eyes, it will be just a matter of leaving with glasses to protect her from UV rays that are too aggressive for her eyes. For others it will finally be the happiness to see properly, sometimes even to see simply and finally learn to read and write. It is very moving to see all his little Tunisians proudly sporting their pair of glasses.
This year's operation "Des glasses for the children of the sands "has equipped his five thousandth child, an adorable little girl all shy (photo opposite).
