What does your average child learn?

The purpose of the nursery school is to teach your child how to become a student: he gradually becomes autonomous and learns to learn, to appropriate knowledge. He builds relationships with other children and other adults; his world is expanding outside the house. The program of all the years of the nursery school is organized according to four categories, with precise objectives according to the level.

Live together. In an average section, you teach your child to accept the rules of collective life. He respects others, material and work. He helps, learns to share and even takes some responsibilities. In the different tasks requested, he knows how to be autonomous.

Act and express yourself with your body. Your child walks, runs, hops, crawls, crosses obstacles, rolls ... He throws and catches, pushes and pulls. He knows how to play two and make some mimes and dances. It can take some measured risks.

Discover the world. Your child manipulates and perceives different tactile, visual and taste forms. He can recognize and classify sounds and name primary and secondary colors. He makes construction games with or without model and knows how to use some tools. He learns some hygiene rules and learns the risks of the street and the familiar environment. He can also ask for help! But that's not all: he structures his space and takes reference points in relation to him. He can describe his environment, know the moments of the day, the present, the past and the future. He distinguishes forms and sizes and knows how to classify them, according to their size for example. He is able to make a 9-piece puzzle! On the mathematical side, he can compare quantities and know when there is "more" or "less"; he knows nursery rhymes to count to 10 and associate the name of the known numbers with their digit writing.

Communication and expression. Your child knows how to speak in front of the class, on the solicitation of the teacher and to express himself correctly. He knows how to execute a directive and tell what he is doing. He can respect the beginning and the end of a story and recognizes his first name. He can even write it in capital letters! He can reproduce some graphic patterns like dots, lines, circles, loops and waves. He will even draw you pretty men!

Our advice
This of course represents academic benchmarks. Some children develop more or less quickly some areas of expertise without you having to worry!
