All about aromatherapy

The essential oils are aromatic essences, extracted from different sources: leaves, flowers, barks, seeds, resins, roots or skin of plants. Although they are called oil, these substances are extremely volatile species. From the Antiquities, they were used for the welfare of the body and the spirit by the Egyptians, the Arabs, the Chinese, the Greeks and the Romans.

How does thearomatherapy ?
Thearomatherapy is practiced in massages, inhalation, spray, bath, drops mixed in honey or a sugar or capsules.
The essential oils all have antiseptic properties, some of them are antibiotics or antivirals.

Use aromatherapy in massage
Thearomatherapy in massages is used to relax or stimulate, according to the selected essences. The massage allows to pass the active ingredients directly into the blood. The essential oils are always used diluted in vegetable oils. These are cold-pressed virgin oils: grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, soy oil, safflower oil, wheat germ oil or sesame seed oil. Attention, to preserve the effect, it is necessary to avoid to shower during 6 hours after a massage.

Other uses of aromatherapy
You can pour 8 drops of essential oil in a bath, or dilute a few drops on compresses of hot or cold water.
It can also be poured into a cup near a heat source to clean the air.
Inhalations with a few drops diluted in a bowl of hot water or poured on a tissue are effective for treating flu, colds, etc.

Our advice
For basic treatments, to treat a child or in case of pregnancy, it is imperative to speak to a certified aromatherapist, because some oils are toxic or can burn the skin, if they are not diluted. Before using an essential oil, it is best to be well informed before.
