Organic cosmetics: knowing how to read labels

Sometimes confusion can occur between so-called "natural" products and organicwhich are governed by certification bodies. The label organic guarantees 95% the biological origin of the ingredients used and the absence of chemical substances in their production.

The labels that guarantee an organic cosmetic product are mentioned on the packaging, it is a question of looking for the logos: Nature and progress, Ecocert, Cosmetic controlled BDIH, Cosmebio.

Packaging bearing these labels respects the rules laid down in the specifications for these products. These are very rigorous and impose plants from organic farming in the manufacture of cosmetics.

Attention, the presence of one of these logos is not automatically a guarantee of product quality.

Each country has its own specifications, even if they all respect the main lines that determine this name.

All these logos guarantee the absence of dyes and synthetic products, petrochemical derivatives, silicone, parabens and phenoxyethanol or GMOs. In the same way, the packaging respects the environment and is recyclable. Only 5 preservatives are allowed in the manufacture of cosmetics organic.

A product can be organic without being certified by a label because the delays to obtain the certification can sometimes be quite long.
