First glasses: for toddlers, the signs that must alert you

In the case of infants, three mandatory medical visits include a brief eye exam on the eighth day, nine months, and two years. Then, screenings are planned in the school setting. But problems can occur between each of these deadlines. In addition, only you, parents, live daily with your child, and are able to note differences in his reactions.

How do sight problems manifest themselves?

One of the most obvious symptoms to spot is the eyes that squint. Be careful, however, before six months, this is a phenomenon that occurs from time to time in babies, whose eyesight is not yet mature.

However, if this strabismus is constant, it can hide a disorder of vision, it is then necessary to have examined the eyes of your child. Same if he continues to squint beyond six months, even intermittently.

Other hints are: eyes that leak light or blink too often. Finally, between three to six months, if your baby's gaze is wandering, and he does not try to catch the games you present him, it means he certainly has trouble distinguishing them.

Be vigilant with this type of behavior, and if in doubt, never hesitate to consult an ophthalmologist, who has precise and objective means to assess the sight of toddlers.
