Pregnant, beware of the extra pounds!

The weight gain is not the same depending on the stage of the pregnancy. She is weak at the beginning of pregnancy and is increasing sharply in the last few months, averaging 1.5 kilograms per month from the fourth month.
"In reality, reassures Dr. Christine Chardonnet Remusat, excessive weight gain is rarely linked to a dietary imbalance. It is often due to edema (water retention) .This problem, there is nothing to to do, and those kilos will go away more easily after giving birth. "
We know today, eating for two means eating twice as good, but not twice! You just have to eat balanced, as usual.
On two points however, it is good to change your eating habits:

Split your diet
Pregnant, you must eat every three hours, but not excessively. A snack is necessary, but it must consist of slow sugars that bring energy. Prefer a piece of bread with cheese to a fruit, too sweet. In the 3rd trimester, there is less room in the stomach and the digestion is slowed down: thus avoid making big meals!

Beware of fast sugars
It is good to eat as little as possible of sugary foods, as this leads to large glycemic variations. Avoid fast sugars (such as cookies, sodas, jams, fuits ...), especially fasting (breakfast and snack) and eat sweet foods at the end of meals.
"Pregnant women often have discomfort because they have hypoglycaemia around 11 am, says Dr. Remusat Chardonnet.Smooth sugars are absorbed very quickly!"
It is therefore a question of having a correct and constant glycemia.
In the morning, eat natural dairy products, ham or cheese. "The idea that you have to eat a lot of fruit is wrong," says the doctor, "one to two fruits a day is enough!"
Avoid sodas that bring large amounts of sugar brutally.

Finally, adjust to your basic weight. 12 kg is an average. If you are thin or thin, you can take a few extra pounds, but if you are strong, it will be better to try to limit weight gain since you already have reserves.
"Those who have a genetic factor must pay more attention, confirms Christine Chardonnet-Remusat, because the extra pounds of the pregnancy will be hard to lose. "
Do not hesitate to ask your doctor for advice during pregnancy and also know that breastfeeding promotes weight loss after delivery, especially in the belly, because of uterine contractions.
