WhatAugust Rush do not know is that it was born from the brief meeting of Lyla Novacek (Keri Russell), talented cellist, and Louis Connelly (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers), fiery rock singer. Lyla thinks her son died at birth and Louis does not even know he's a father ...
From the outset, we know where we put our feet: August Rush is a romantic comedy that features an orphan, musical prodigy, looking for his parents so you can prepare your handkerchiefs because the emotion is at the rendezvous! But where the story could quickly turn to lacrimal melo, the realization leads us, on the contrary, to the world of fantastic jubilant tale. And that's good ! This magical atmosphere gives all its dimension to the film, masterfully carried by the music who literally lives the story as a character in its own right.
Other characters also cross the road ofAugust Rush in his mad quest, including Wizard, played by a very inspired Robin Williams as an old rickety musician.
The goal here is not to reveal the whole story. But know that there are many good reasons to go see August Rush like the moving and accurate interpretation of the young Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the chocolate factory, Arthur and the Invisibles...). The appearances of Keri Russell (discovery in the series Felicity) are counted but of an emotion without equal, she has long trained in the cello to embody the character of Lyla. As for Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Match Point), he is simply perfect in his interpretation of keen skinned singer. Good surprise: it is he who really sings in the film, and not a lining.
So if you like the music as much as the cinema, you will enjoy, run to see August Rush !
