Slimming: At the weekend, your diet takes a hit

Cocktails at the aperitif, restaurants with friends or meal tray in front of the TV, gourmet snacks ... The opportunities to have fun on weekends, are multiple. According to an English study, we would for example be 7 out of 10 to opt for a meal to take away, very often synonymous with foods rich in carbohydrates and fats. It must be said that after a week of work and evenings too short, we have only one desire: to take full advantage. And, far from the rigor imposed by work in a company, it is much easier to lose control.
But too much to please us, it seems that we totally forget to restrict ourselves. Result? In two days, English women would swallow an average of 8,000 calories and men 10,000. That's almost half of what they swallow throughout the rest of the week. A finding all the more flagrant in those who try, precisely to control their weight (for 73% of them). In France, if the eating habits diverge from those of the British, the observation is the same. We tend to control ourselves less. And with a glass of wine here, a snack with the kids there, the calories go up fast.

This habit of life, which consists precisely in regulating one's appetite over 5 days and eating as one wants the next 2 days, is more and more frequent. Blame it on diet 5: 2, which meets more and more followers but whose long-term results are more than questionable for people who really want to lose weight (see our article: diet 5: 2, are we trying or not?
If it is important to have fun and continue to have a social life in times of diethowever, it is better to be reasonable over time. Enjoy an evening with friends yes, gorging all weekend no!
In practice, when we know that we will go out on Saturday night, we have lunch and we taste light the rest of the day. On Sundays, if we like brunches, we make sure to establish a meal balanced diet where we find starchy foods in a reasonable quantity and accompanied by proteins and fibers. Add fruit (or a smoothie or fruit juice), a dairy product and a hot drink. Sunday evening, we take the good habits of the week.

Just for fun, here's how, according to the Daily Mail website, the English are able to consume more than 10,000 calories in two days:
Friday evening: aperitif with 4 glasses of wine, followed by a kebab and a soft drink (about 1900 calories).
Saturday morning: English breakfast (about 1200 calories).
Saturday afternoon : meal take away (900 calories) + a snack (215 calories).
Saturday night: snacks + pizza + ice cream (about 2000 calories) followed by a snack in front of the TV (about 1000 calories).
Sunday morning: breakfast in the European (about 1000 calories).
Sunday noon : meal in family (1500 calories approximately).
Taste the pub: (about 900 calories)
Sunday evening: "light" dinner (about 800 calories).
