Fanny Ardant presents "Véronique" at the Théâtre du Châtelet
The actress Fanny Ardant kicks off the adaptation of Speedwell the Theater of Châtelet. Ardant is trying for the first time to direct with this operetta written in 1898 by the composer and conductor André Messager. Eight actors-singers will revive this cross between two couples linked by adultery, led by the disturbing Veronica.
Speedwell tells the story of two couples. Coquenard, the florist of Viscount Florestan Valaincourt aspires to become captain of the National Guard. His wife Agathe is the viscount's mistress. Florestan Valaincourt ends his relationship with Agathe to keep the part of his future legacy bequeathed by his wife Hélène. But the latter, who attended the scene of rupture, decides to give a lesson to Florestan by being hired by Coquenard. It is under the features of Veronique that she will meet the Viscount.
Soprano Amel Brahim-Djelloul will play Veronique / Hélène de Solanges and will play Dietrich Henschel, who will wear Florestan de Valaincourt's costume. They will be accompanied by Ensemble Matheus (Ch? Ur du Chatelet).
