Justin Timberlake honored at the American Music Awards
The Daughtry group has won three awards, including the revelation of the year and the best artist in the contemporary music category. Thealbum of the formation was also crowned best record in the category pop-rock.
For its part, Justin Timberlake is awarded as Male Artist of the Year. His album FutureSex / Love Sounds is also worth the award for best album soul and R'n'B.
The singer Carrie Underwood was chosen as the revelation of the year 2006 with her album Some Hearts sacred best opus in the country category. Rascal Flats wins the best country band of the year while rapper Akon wins the award for Best Soul Artist and R'n'B.
Numerous music stars have been performing throughout the evening, including Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, Chris Brown, Duran Duran, Sugarland, Maroon 5, Lenny Kravitz and Rihanna. Celine Dion, also invited, presented her new single, Taking Chances.
The American Music Awards reward the best artists in many categories such as country, R'n'B or alternative rock. The winners are chosen based on their sales and success on the radio.
