Health tips against gastroenteritis

A study by Invs Inserm announced in mid-December that the annual epidemic of gastroenteritis had started in France. As every year, about 1 million French should suffer this winter. But you will not be one of those! To know the good gestures from the appearance of the first symptoms (diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pains), here are some simple reflexes to adopt.

Hydrate
The gastroenteritis Dehydrates strongly. It is therefore advisable to drink in large quantities, at least two liters per day. Water, salt broth, tea or sweet herbal tea are very good for this, provided they are stirred well to remove all the gas.

Feed on
You are sick and you do not want to eat. But you have to eat when you have the gastro! If the appetite does not bother you, make very small meals throughout the day. If it is usually not recommended to nibble, there you can! The foods to be favored are starchy foods (rice and pasta), fish and meat, carrots, always well cooked. For dairy products, cooked cheeses and yogurts are suitable.
To avoid: the fresh fruits, except the banana, which must be consumed very ripe. It is recommended to eat rather compotes or jelly. In particular, avoid all the plant fibers in fresh fruits and green vegetables, as well as foods that are too fat, which can cause nausea and diarrhea.

Protect your surroundings
The gastroenteritis is very contagious. It is better to wash your hands regularly: it is the best protection against the epidemic. If it is your child who is ill, it is best to always wash your hands after changing his diaper or giving him a bottle.

If the symptoms persist
If you lose too much weight and diarrhea and vomiting persist, you should consult your doctor. Any presence of blood in the stool should lead to immediate consultation.

These habits taken quickly improve the state of health adults in a few days. However, it is strongly recommended that young children and elderly or frail to consult a doctor as soon as the first signs of gastroenteritis.
