"Persepolis" nominated for Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature

Persepolis is inspired by a series of autobiographical comic books in four volumes published between 2000 and 2003. Marjane Satrapi, of Iranian origin, tells with humor and lucidity her trajectory as a girl lost in the tumult of the Islamic revolution of 1979 .
The movie featured in a list of feature films that have excelled at box office like Pixar's Ratatouille, Shrek the third in Dreamworks Animation and The Simpsons, the movie Twentieth Century Fox. The feature film is also the only one movie non-American to be part of this pre-selection with the Japanese Amer Concrete.

Of the 12 animated feature films preselected this year, four are traditional cartoons. A figure in evolution of 100% compared to last year. Others movies are in computer graphics except Alvin and the Chipmunks, mixed with real shots, and The Legend of Beowulf, who takes advantage of the technology "motion capture" (capture of movements).

Only three feature films will be selected for the 2008 Oscar for Best movie animation. Their names will be announced on January 22, 2008 at the same time as all the nominees. The 80th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 24 at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.
