The Aristos: the high society knows how to laugh

Production : Charlotte de Turckheim
Actors: Charlotte de Turckheim, Catherine Jacob, Johanna Piaton, Armelle
Released on September 20th

Charlotte de Turckheim likes family themes. In her first film, "My father, my mother, my brothers and my sisters", released in 1998, she staged the problems of a stepfamily. This time, the clan is united and united ... by its rank but also by its financial problems. Result: comedy rather nice family, with a small moral about the importance of support in difficult times.

The screenwriter director relied on a fairly classic synopsis, which opened however many possibilities: Count Charles Valerand of Arbac de Neuville and his wife Solange (born Poitou Castilla de la Taupinière) are claimed 1 991 753 euros d taxes. Since they do not work, and they have nothing but their decrepit castle, they will have to try everything to acquire this sum.

Then follows an obstacle course among the many aristocratic networks of the family. If, independently, each of these portraits is amusing, the long succession of parodies quickly becomes wearisome. Fortunately, the game of some actresses pulls the film up: Catherine Jacob, undrinkable in her upstart character, Charlotte de Turckheim herself, always so friendly, and his daughter (in the film as in the city), Johanna Piaton, who plays a brilliant teenager. Without them, this work would quickly lose all interest.
