All about the protein diet

The protein diet, otherwise known as protein diet, is a variant of the high protein diet. He preceded it by a few years and was developed by Professor Apfelbaum of Bichat Hospital, Paris, in 1966, to help obese people lose weight.

The principle of protein diet is to eat essentially protein, as the name suggests. These are low in calories and avoid using muscles as a source of energy. The muscle mass is preserved and the body burns its stocks of fat and sugar from the first days of the diet. Menus consist of protein, usually in the form of meal replacements or sachets. To avoid causing serious deficiencies, the sachets are combined with dietary supplements of minerals and vitamins ...

The objective is losing about 4 to 7 kg per month. From the first days, the results are spectacular but tend to slow down thereafter. A doctor must follow you during this diet especially because of the risk of deficiencies. A phase of attack, then of cruise, then of consolidation and finally of stabilization will be linked. Your doctor accompanies your weight loss by referring you to your menus and the duration of each phase.

The inconvenientsof protein diet are not thin! This exposes to a risk of gout and urinary stones because of the massive doses of proteins ingested. Pouches and food supplements are also expensive. However, they can be replaced by lean meat, white fish, nonfat dairy products and egg whites, which also makes your menus more enjoyable, varied and tasty. In any case, never start alone in a protein diet and the rule of thumb is that it must not exceed eight weeks.
