Doctors and the flu A: Are the doctors ready to be vaccinated?

"Faced with such a pandemic, it is the duty of doctorsfirst, to be able to work, secondly to not be the vector of the disease, and finally to be exemplary in protecting individuals and families"said Dr. Legmann, President of the National Council of the Order of doctorsSeptember 22nd.

And faced with this quasi-injunction, what about the reaction of doctors ?

A survey conducted by theIfop, published September 20 in the journal The Doctor's Daily brings some elements of answer. These figures are the result of a telephone survey, from September 14 to 16, at 402 doctors liberals, including 255 generalists and 147 specialists.

"52% are ready to be vaccinated as soon as the vaccine will be available, of which 32% certainly and 20% probably. 46% are not ready, 28% certainly not, and 18% probably not".
General practitioners are much more determined (61%) than specialists (37%). The enthusiasm with regard to the plan of vaccination is moderate among doctors 42% are willing to volunteer, 50% among general practitioners and 29% among specialists.

More optimistic than the statement of the Ministry of Health: the news announced by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA), October 2 that puts a definitive end to the controversy between pro-vaccines and detractors. Indeed, a third vaccine against the influenza A, this time without adjuvant, Celvapan ®, Baxter Laboratories, was put on the market.
France has ordered 50 000 doses of this vaccine. It would be reserved in France for pregnant women and immunocompromised people.
A new element that will certainly soon bring everyone in tune.

There remains one last point, however, on which opinions diverge: the framing of the campaign.
If the vaccination is not mandatory, the fact remains that François Fillon drew up the typology of the priority persons and confirmed that it would be done in a way "collective", in public places and not at the GP, under the authority of the prefects and health services.

On this last point, only 42% of doctors say they are ready to volunteer. As for the principle of requisition of health personnel, 60% say they oppose ...
