My pregnancy week by week: week 1

A little technical reminder: the ovulation period takes place at the end of the second week of amenorrhea (or absence of rules), after the end of your last period. Ovulation is therefore between the 14th and 17th days of the cycle. The first week of pregnancy corresponds to the third week of amenorrhea. Here are our tips for making things better.

You

Your first week of pregnancy can go completely unnoticed because at this stage you do not have noticeable symptoms even if you are pregnant.
The transformations you already undergo occur first inside your uterus. Progesterone modifies the mucosa to prepare it to receive the egg. Your uterus takes the shape of a fig.
The only physical transformation you can perceive at this stage is a very slight increase in the volume of your breasts.

Your baby

A few days after fertilization of the egg by the spermatozoon, the egg will divide into two identical cells that will collect, to reach the size of a small ball composed of 16 cells.
At 7e day, the fertilized egg descends to the uterus to attach to the walls, this is the nesting period. At this point your embryo measures about 0.1 mm.

And the future dad?

It's really a weird time for the future daddy. Of course, he knows, like you, that you are likely to be pregnant, but he looks for signs of a pregnancy... he still does not see any difference, but he insists that you do a test of pregnancy !

Good to know

From the first day of late rules, you can do a test of pregnancy, preferably in the morning at sunrise, so that the urine is more concentrated. Choose a sensitive test at 50 IU / liter.

Health Notebook / Exam Notepad

If you do not know your blood group, or that of the father, you must do some analysis to know it. Indeed, if you are Rh- and father Rh +, the doctor who will follow your pregnancy must be informed, because there may be a risk - extremely rare - of fœt-maternal incompatibility.

Our advices
- During the first weeks of your pregnancy, the cells of your embryo are sensitive to anything that could generate abnormalities. You must therefore avoid as much as possible to be in contact with contagious patients with chickenpox and rubella.
- If you live in the country, avoid walking in tall grass because you could get ticks under the skin. But ticks can be infected by a bacteria carrying Lyme disease, which gives fever and whose consequences on the fetus are still poorly known.
- From now on, avoid taking drugs that could be harmful to your baby, and ban sleeping pills from your medicine cabinet. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
