The first name of the day: Sidonie

Etymology of given name Sidonie
The first name Sidonie comes from the Latin Sidonius and means "inhabitant of Sidon". This first name is carried by about 5,000 people in France but remains little attributed today. Sidonie is honored on August 21st.

History
Sidon is one of the oldest cities in Phenicia, a Syrian-Palestinian coast stretching from Tell Suqas (ancient Shukshan) in the north to Acre (Akko) in the south. It was founded by Canaan, Noah's grandson. This city of exceptional destiny overcame the destruction inflicted by the Persians in 343, then by a few centuries later in 677, by the Assyrians. Today the city is called Sayda. Subsequently, this name became widespread during Antiquity without ever disappearing but there remains however a first name rare today.

Character
Sidonie is a young volunteer and optimistic woman. In her professional life, she is very determined and communicative. In her personal life Sidonie is sometimes reserved but always listening to others.
