PEGs and PPGs: what is it?

We find polyethylene glycols or PEG in many common hygiene products: moisturizing creams, shampoos, shower gels ... PEGs are derived from ethylene oxide, a toxic and flammable product. PEGs are suspected of being carcinogenic, hence their gradual withdrawal from the manufacture of products: they would be the source of many skin allergies ...

PPGs are derived from oil used to maintain the brakes and industrial antifreeze. They are used to maintain the moisturizing properties of chemical products and are very common in conventional cosmetics.

These components that have a conservative function
in these products, are as controversial as parabens. Today, they are suspected of being toxic and harmful to health if used in large doses.
In the name of the precautionary principle, it is better to avoid the products that contain these derivatives.

PPGs are suspected of causing some deformities
liver and damage the kidneys. Some studies have shown a link between male infertility and exposure to glycolic derivatives ... women would also be vulnerable to these components: irregular menstrual cycles, difficulty getting pregnant, early abortions ...

Our advice
Opt for organic cosmetics, trust the different labels AB, Ecocert ... They guarantee products of natural origin without any chemical substance.
