Protect yourself effectively from mosquitoes

Malaria stay here disease parasitic most common in the world. There are 7000 cases each year in France and about 20 deaths. The disease is transmitted by the mosquito female, type Anopheles, during nocturnal stings.
The signs : fever 8 to 30 days after infection, sometimes headache, muscle aches and vomiting.

The dengue is a disease viral. There, mosquitoes (type Aedes) rage in the day.
The signs : they develop very abruptly after 2 to 7 days of incubation with high fevers, headache, nausea, joint pain (elbows, knees) and rashes. This classic form remains more disabling than serious. In Europe, 2.7% of cases can become haemorrhagic fever and prove fatal.

Chikungunya did a lot of talking last year, but you must know that this virus has raged in Africa and Southeast Asia for a long time. The virus is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. They bite the day, mainly at the beginning and end of the day.
The signs : incubation is 4 to 7 days, followed by a sudden fever, intense joint pain (wrists, ankles, phalanges), sometimes muscle pain, headache, headache and rash.
There is a risk of mother's transmission to her fetus.
The disease may progress to a chronic phase with persistent and disabling joint pain.

So how to protect yourself from these nasty creatures?
For these three diseases there is no vaccine. For malaria, we can prevent disease with antimalarials, but they do not provide total protection.
It is therefore up to everyone to protect themselves as best they can. The best of the protections undoubtedly remains the repellents to apply directly on the skin, insecticides impregnating clothes and mosquito nets.
You should know that 40% of mosquito bites are done through clothing.
In countries at risk double protection skin and clothing optimizes prevention. Provided you do not use any product and respect the treatment.
It seems that the products containing the following active ingredients are the most effective:
1 - For the skin : the Deet (the reference repellent), Icaridin (the most effective against mosquito vectors of malaria).
The duration of effectiveness of sprays and other mosquito lotions depends on the concentration of active ingredients in the product and of course the environment and type of mosquito that you may encounter.
IR 3535 or Citriodol are less effective.

2 - For the clothes : Permethrin.
It is not necessary to treat clothing several times during a stay in a risk area. After impregnation, the product remains effective for two months even after several washes at 40 °, with washing and after ironing.
It should be noted that no harmful effect has been noted for the skin. Pérmethrine is the only insecticide molecule that can be safely applied to clothing.
Do not hesitate to seek the advice of your pharmacist at the time of the purchase of a product.
