True-false on soy milk

Soymilk is a vegetable drink made from soybean and water. It is obtained by stripping the soya beans, grinding them and boiling them.
Vegans use it as a substitute for cow's milk and it is very popular in the West because of its low caloric value.

Soy is a food known for its great nutritional qualities that serves as a basis for a healthy diet and many of its derivatives, such as soy milk, are found in our diet.

Soy milk prevents cardiovascular risk due to its low trans fat content. It also contains flavonoids, an antioxidant that delays aging and especially aging of the skin. Consumed on a regular basis, soy milk prevents and reduces hormonal disorders in postmenopausal women because of its phytoestrogen content.

If you suffer from intolerance with lactose, soy milk is recommended. It contains many components identical to those of cow's milk and sometimes it is enriched with calcium.

However, avoid to give soya milk to infants, because it contains no vitamin essential for the growth of the child. In addition, soy preparations for children are not recommended by the medical profession.

Lately, organic soy imported from China, contaminated with melamine, caused a scandal in November 2008 and triggered doubt and suspicion around this product. Even if any risk to public health has been ruled out, vigilance remains in the limelight bios.

Our advice
At the dietary range, choose a non-pesticid organic soy milk made from non-genetically modified soybeans grown outside of China.
