Katie Melua: discovery of a pretty rising voice
Katie Melua came to the music scene a little over a year and a half ago and gave his one and only concert in France at the Grand Rex in Paris on March 9th. And I was in the room that night. I can already hear more than one, perplexed: "Katie who? Who is this?" Katie Melua is a young a singer 21 years old, adopted Irish, born in Georgia, velvet voice, limpid, luminous and haunting. His style is jazz, blues, songs with messages, sad, melancholy, but not only. Because there is not only nostalgia in life when we sing at 21 years old.
On stage, surrounded by her five musicians, she is the smallest but yet she impresses. Shy, she seems to cling to her guitar, then she plays the first notes and as if by magic, she flies away. It's hard to say that such a small, fragile-looking woman can make such perfect notes. And yet.
His concert is like his two albums, Call of the search and Piece by Piece. She tells the stories that inspire her: her nomadic childhood with her surgeon parents from Moscow to Belfast, her pretty encounters and her uncertainty about the events that shake the world ... She cogit and engage the little one a singer and in addition to all that she has good references: she punctuates her albums and concerts of flawless Beatles, Lucy in the sky with diamonds jazzy version, Bob Dylan, On the road again blues version or Jeff Buckley, Lilac Wine, languid version ...Katie Melua sings beautifully and plays as if she were born a guitar in her hand: she is very young so she is already doing everything like a big one.
