Marilyn, The Last Session

The Maillol Museum presents a photo exhibition of Marilyn Monroe. A beautiful set both humanly and aesthetically.

In 1962, Bert Stern is a renowned photographer for the quality of his portraits. Nourishing the dream of photographing Marilyn Monroe, he offers Vogue magazine a photo report on the star. The editorial approves the project and Marilyn agrees to pose for him. Rather than photographing her in the studio, he prefers to settle in a suite at the Bel-Air hotel in Los Angeles. Marilyn agrees to pose naked and without makeup, the session lasts twelve hours. The result is exceptional, but too bare for Vogue who Bert Stern to start over but this time made up and more dressed. Marilyn, though known for her mood swings and whims, agrees to ask again. She died one day before the release of her report.
The last session is a selection of 59 photos from these two sessions and selected by the photographer himself. It represents a sumptuous and very touching set revealing all the fragility of the stars star.
