Norah Jones launches her rock band
It is under the pseudonym of Maddie that Norah Jones sings and plays the guitar in the new band she has set up and which is called El Madmo.
Outraged Norah JonesEl Madmo is composed of two former members of Handsome Hand: bassist and singer Daru Oda aka "El" and drummer Andrew Borger aka "Mo".
In this album that will be released on May 20th via the independent label Team Love, the band offers indie rock tracks. Three tracks from this album are already available on the band's Myspace page: www.myspace.com/elmadmo.
From his real name Geetali Norah Jones-Shankar, Norah Jones won in 2003 eight Grammy Awards, especially Best Disc, Best Album and Best Song, and the revelation of the year award for his album Come Away With Me.
In 2005, he received three Grammy Awards for Feels Like Home.
Finally, thanks to his latest album, Not Too Late (at Blue Note), released in January 2007, Norah Jones landed for the third time in his career the first place on the American charts.
Real box office champion, Norah Jones sold more than 20 million copies of Come Away with me in 2002 and more than 10 million albums of Feels Like Home in 2004.
