The Kinder saga: a story full of surprises

The origin of Kinder Surprise: Kinder, which means child in German, is a brand marketed by the Italian group Ferrero since 1975 in France. It is the first chocolate confectionery brand in Western Europe. For a long time, Italians have made huge eggs for Easter chocolate and Michele Ferrero in 1974 thought to make all year. Why limit this pleasure to only once a year, while we can consume all year? For the pleasure of the children, a little surprise is placed inside the egg. It is the peculiarity of these little Kinder eggs which contain an orange-yellow hull in which is placed the surprise. It can be a figurine or a small toy to assemble oneself, a fun activity that pleases every time. These eggs are made in two formats, the mini format to consume all year and an XXL format that is usually reserved for the Easter period.


Some figures: In France, the Ferrero company has doubled its turnover since 2000 to reach 1.06 billion euros in 2010. Ferrero France is present in 5 main markets: spreads, dry snacks, tablets of chocolate, confectionery and confectionery chocolate. An international reputation and highly targeted products: Nutella, Mon Chéri, Kinder, Ferrero Rocher ... More than 12000 Kinder surprises have been created since the birth of these famous eggs.
