The literary thriller "Millenium" will make its way to the big screen

The information is reported by the weekly The Express.

Danish filmmaker Niels Arden Oplev will stage Men who did not like women, the first installment of Stieg Larsson's trilogy, starting next spring. Each episode will resume a volume of thriller sold more than 1.7 million copies in Sweden and 500,000 units in France. Only the first film will be entitled to a theatrical release scheduled for spring 2009 in Scandinavia. The last two feature films will be broadcast on Swedish television and then edited on DVD.

Swedish actors Michael Nykvist and Noomi Rapace will take over the roles of Mikael Blomkvist, a magazine journalist Millennium, and Lisbeth Salander, punkette and genius hacker.

The author of the trilogy, Stieg Larsson, former journalist, died just after completing the third volume of Millennium.

The first novel is an insular camera. The second plunges the reader into four entangled surveys in the vaults of Swedish society. The third relates a chase with a plot close to that of a spy novel.
