In 1924, the Vercamer family set up a company specializing in the wholesale of cosmetics and equipment for hairdressing salons.
But it's November 1984, that Daniel and Martine Vercamer open their first perfume shop in Lille, the starting point of a new chain of
perfumes, care and makeup. Their idea? Make more accessible to customers the products of the major perfume brands.
In 1987, the company is renamed Nocibé, named after an island off Madagascar, where ylang-ylang grows, widely used in perfumery. In 1990, the company focuses on the development of its brand to expand its presence in France.
Success is at the rendezvous, because 10 years after creating the first perfumery,
Nocibé becomes the first French perfume chain to enter the second market of the Stock Exchange. 1998 marks a highlight of the expansion of
Nocibéwho buys the chain
Beauty Shop, very present in the region of Toulouse, then establishes a partnership with the Dutch perfume group Kruidvat, established in seven 7 countries. In the fall of 1998,
Nocibé becomes a subsidiary of the Dutch group.
From 1999, the brand takes over several brands across France: Odyssey, Kiss Wild, Process Blue, Imprint, Thelem and Lamsel. From 2000,
Nocibé settles in the Paris region. She then holds the Odyssée, Baiser Sauvage, Process Blue, Empreinte, Thelem and Lamsel brands.
In 2002, the founder of
Nocibé joins forces with the British group Bridgepoint to buy Kruidvat's shares. It decides to regroup all the companies bought under the brand
Nocibéso that his group becomes more readable.
In 2005, Nocibé acquires the company HLL Paris Rive droite, which operates the Euro Santé Beauté banner and thus opens in its stores a parapharmacy space.
The Bridgepoint Group withdraws from the company's capital in favor of the investment group CharterHouse, the current shareholder of the company.
Today, Nocibé located only in France, reached 460 points of sale, including 348 branches, 92 franchisees and 20 affiliates. Its 333 institutes make the brand the first network of beauty institutes in France.
Third brand of beauty products in France by its turnover,
Nocibé wants more than ever close to its customers with a philosophy displayed:
"Beauty does not dictate itself, it reveals itself!"
