Who is the most boastful man or woman? A study answers!
Who was right from the beginning? It's us, the women, once again. Men are real boasters, unlike us! A truce of jokes, a study conducted by London researchers shows that these gentlemen fart more than women. this study is even published in the British journal of psychology April 20th.
And the results hurt our French gentlemen: our dear men are at the top of the rankings! A total of 2,006 people were interviewed across 12 different countries, the goal being to ask them to self-assess their level of intelligence. The "guinea pigs" had to classify their estimate between 55 and 145 IQ points.
Unsurprisingly-no, let's not say that, it would be really bad faith-men are assuming a level of intelligence on average much higher than these ladies. Sincerity or self-estimation over-inflated, men are therefore very smart! Lack of self-confidence or natural modesty, women feel less intellectually brilliant. The difference is 15 IQ points in France, a record!
Australia, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Iran, Israel, Malaysia, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States are among the countries targeted by this international study. Among those questioned, 687 men and 1,319 women. All had to evaluate their intellectual abilities, be it at the level of verbal fluency, local, interpersonal, musical, spatial and emotional.
"We asked the participants to self-assess their intelligence quotient.We did not calculate the true intelligence of the participants, and we did not ask them to estimate the intelligence of others," says Sophie von Stumm, one of the researchers who worked on the subject.
Men find themselves very gifted especially in areas they believe theirs, such as logic or spatial reasoning, and they think themselves even superior intellectually speaking fluency! Words, words ... Here are some nice talkers. The difference of 15 points specific to the Hexagon relates to eight of the ten domains observed.
The second on the list of boasters is the United Kingdom. The difference between the two sexes reaches the 10 IQ points."This study shows that men have a high opinion of themselves and are more likely to overestimate themselves, unlike women, more modest, underestimating their intelligence," analysis Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, one of the researchers.
"The results are representative of the different values of societies around the world.While qualities like modesty, tenderness and attention are encouraged in women, opposing qualities like strength and success are maintained among men."
