Addiction: a new campaign against drug use

The government has once again decided to make life tough on drugs: Minister of Health Roselyne Bachelot announced on October 5 the launch of a national campaign against drug addiction.

This campaign is organized around three axes: advertisements launched from the beginning of October for the health prevention side, a judicial campaign in November, which will focus on the penalties for drugs, and support for parents, starting from September 2010.

This campaign, also launched by the interministerial mission to fight against drugs and addiction (Mildt) and the National Institute for Prevention and Health Education (Inpes), has the slogan: "Drugs, do not close our eyes ".

"In France, we consume more drugs than before, more often and younger," says Roselyne Bachelot. "550,000 people smoke cannabis three to four times a day, of which 380,000 are under the age of 25." The Minister of Health also deplores the"enhanced accessibility" of these narcotics.
