Fashion: the trends of the fall-winter 2008-2009

The 92 parisian ready-to-wear fashion shows fall-winter 2008/2009 just finished, Muriel Piaser, manager of the salons Atmosphère / The Box, decrypts the highlights of this week of fashion: what will we wear next winter ? Interview.

What are the main trends of the 2008-2009 fall-winter fashion?
Muriel Piaser: For me, there are two trends major. The first is "back to the future" with geometric volumes and flashy colors contrasting with black. A style reminiscent of Cardin or Courrèges in the 60s and 70s with more touches of neon color that give a rock style. The second trend, totally opposite, is the return of the natural, the fluid, in neutral tones like pearl gray or pastel pink while romanticism.

And on the subject side?
M.P: I saw a lot of quilted, very worked things, with stitching, inspired down jacket. For example, Viktor & Rolf had created boots scotched and rigid, a great originality. In general, the clothes were very close to the body, even sheathing. I also saw a lot of leather, faded or wrinkled. There was also a lot of vintage style prints adapted to the 21st century.

How do you rate the spirit of this Fashion Week?
M.P .: There are many people, I saw a beautiful energy in Paris. I think everyone was waiting for Paris, while London and Milan were less dynamic. The collections have adopted a bias, with a lot of modernity and fun. They are inspired by the 60s, 70s and 80s, with very modern details. The femme fatale is back, hair pulled, trend Thierry Mugler. The keys of red, lemon yellow, Klein blue or nature green were found everywhere.

Have you found any key pieces?
M.P. : Undeniably, the combination is found everywhere, in all its forms. I also noted the return of the tuxedo, with a flared shape down, as in the 60s / 70s.
