L'Oréal is 100 years old!

It is the most famous French brand in the world with Louis Vuitton. On the occasion of its 100 years of existence and after 22 years of growth in 2 figures, L'Oreal remains the world leader in the beauty products industry: luxury or consumer products, the company is surely the one that has hired the most people to promote its cosmetics.

With a turnover amounting to 15.7 billion euros in 2006, L'Oreal has no less than 28 brands, including Maybelline New York, Garnier, Body Shop, Lancome, Biotherm, Beauty Club Paris, Helena Rubinstein, Shu Uemura, Kiehl's, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, Vichy, La Roche-Posay , Kérastase, Redken ...

Present in 130 countries, the company focuses on five main areas of cosmetics: hair care, skincare, make-up, hair coloring and fragrance. But L'Oreal took his first steps in the hair business: indeed it was in 1907 that the young chemist and founder of the company Eugène Schueller invented the first harmless hair dye, called L'Auréale, in reference to a hairstyle fashionable at the beginning of the twentieth century, which was called the halo.

Interviewed by the Metro newspaper, Jean-Paul Agon, Group General Manager, explains that L'Oreal went into luxury by buying Lancôme in 1964. Then, the group became established in the pharmaceutical world by acquiring the Vichy and La Roche-Posay brands. A beautiful example of successful beauty "Made in France". Happy Birthday L'Oreal !
